1. The just inauguared Armed Forces Tribunal, will be on par with The High Court for Armed Forces Personnel cases. The Principal Bench (plus 2 Regional Benches) shall be located as New Delhi, 3 Regional Benches each in Chandigarh and Lucknow and 1 each in Jaipur, Mumbai, Kolkata, Guwahati, Chennai and Kochi.
2. It does not bind itself to the Civil Procedure Code and hence provides for flexibility in procedure as long as they are in conformity with the Principles of Natural Justice. It stress on predictability in hearing and adjournments in very exceptional cases, is a welcome sign in disposal of cases faster and in a time bound manner. 3. The Hon. RM ,on this occassion, had announced that WOMEN MEMBER are likely to be appointed to the AF Tribunal in due course, which is another SPECIAL news.
